Arisarum vulgare - Friar's Cowl

Arisarum vulgare has basal leaves which are wide, ovate to arrow-shaped and grow directly from the underground rhizome. The stems are unbranched and usually mottled. It has a single leaflike bract which forms a purplish-brown or olive green striped tube about 12cm long, with an open hood-shaped top curved forward.
