S. nemorosa subsp. tesquicola is a clump-forming, herbaceous perennial with large, ovate, toothed, aromatic, dark grey-green leaves with dense, erect racemes of deep purple-blue flowers with reddish-purple to violet bracts. Tesquicola is an excellent plant with larger foliage and flowers than the usual nemerosas. It flowers for an exceptionally long time and will repeat flower if cut down in early Summer.
