Stipa gigantea is a striking evergreen grass, which creates a great architectural feature in the garden.  It forms a spiky clump of deep green foliage with long-stemmed, oat-like flower heads held high above in summer. The dry seed heads remain well into winter, and looks stunning when backlit. The Royal Horticultural Society has given it its prestigious Award of Garden Merit (AGM).
